Bora Bora- Snorkel and Dive

Day 8

Ia Orana (Traditional Tahitian greeting). Just another day in paradise; actually day 2 in Bora Bora. Breakfast on our verandah, we can definitely get used to this. Today's menu: hot oatmeal, banana pancakes, sausage, fruit and juice/coffee. Delicious.

Off on another snorkel with Alex the wild (and mostly naked) man from Mahoa Nui III.

First stop was the black tipped and lemon sharks; so many in one place, it was cool. If you stayed still, they came pretty close. Alex free-dived down to catch a ride on the larger lemon shark- quite a site. Luc then knocked me away from a few of the black tipped ones, thanks Luc.

Next stop-stingrays. They were everywhere and just came up to you and brushed against you, a little weird. Of course Alex had to pick one up, grab the tail and French kiss it in its mouth-eeewwww!

Final stop at a beautiful coral garden for more snorkeling, then for Bonnie and I, a ride around the island to get back, while Luc and Jennifer headed for their Polynesian feast.  I was a little worried when we went the long way around the island as I had to be back on the ship for my dive!  We just made it, I grabbed an apple, a yogurt and a muffin, ran down to the boat marina and arrived just in time.

The dive was AMAZING. A little uncomfortable at the beginning, and definitely had trouble controlling where my legs were for the first half, but once I got the hang it was great. Swam after a couple of eagle rays, saw a few moray eels (check out the video below) and of course tons on fish and coral.

Back on board, some room service snacks (steak sandwich and cookies) and then it was our usual evening; steam, hang and talk in the piano bar and dinner. This is a tough life. Peter and Karen from Vancouver joined us again for a nice dinner, and we heard all about Jenn and Luc's Polynesian feast. Sounded yummy.  Tonight's show was crew talent, fun to watch.

A final note for today ; Our departure from Bora  Bora was beautiful, as it has been from each island, but the journey across to Moorea was a bit rocky. We will wake up at our last island, hard to think this trip is drawing to a close.
